Lost Boys of Sudan Lost Boys of Sudan is a feature-length documentary that follows two Sudanese refugees on an extraordinary journey from Africa to America. Orphaned as young boys in one of Africa's cruelest civil wars, Peter Dut and Santino Chuor survived lion attacks and militia gunfire to reach a refugee camp in Kenya along with thousands of other children. From there, remarkably, they were chosen to come to America. Safe at last from physical danger and hunger, a world away from home, they find themselves confronted with the abundance and alienation of contemporary American suburbia. Lost Boys of Sudan won an Independent Spirit Award and screened theatrically in 70 cities across the U.S. to strong audience and critical praise. The film was broadcast nationally on the PBS series POV in the fall of 2004 and earned two Emmy nominations. The story of the Lost Boys of Sudan has touched people from all walks of life. From movie stars and politicians to the average housewife, people from around the world have fallen in love with these courageous young men. Joan Hecht was no exception. When hearing of their story for the first time, Joan Hecht’s eyes filled with tears and she felt a deep stirring in her soul. She knew that helping them was not an option. It was a call to her heart from God and Joan Hecht responded. She hoped to be instrumental in making their new lives in America better than the ones they had left behind. Like many others, Joan Hecht felt compelled to be a mother to these young men who couldn't even remember the faces of their own mothers. “Mama Joan” hoped only to help change their lives, never realizing how knowing each of them would so drastically change her own.

Andrew W.K. Not just a party animal but a party guerrilla, Andrew W.K. burst onto the scene with a hybrid of metal, pop, and dance that parodied and paid tribute to the cheesiest, sleaziest aspects of all three styles. The California-born, Michigan-bred W.K. -- the initials stand for everything from "White Killer" to "Women Kum" to "Wilkes-Krier," the surnames of his mom and dad -- began classical piano lessons at age four and moved on to playing in Detroit punk and metal bands, including the Pterodactyls. By age 17, W.K. was recording his own material. After moving to New York City a year later, his friends passed his demos on to various labels, including Bulb, who released W.K.'s debut EP Girls Own Juice in early 2000 and that fall's Party Til You Puke EP. The buzz around W.K.'s hedonistic, so-dumb-it's-smart rawk resulted in a gig opening for the Foo Fighters as well as deals with Island/Def Jam in the U.S. and Mercury in the U.K.; his first major-label release was 2001's anthemic Party Hard EP. In particular, the U.K. fell in love with W.K.'s ironic trailer-trash look and sound, inspiring critical raves from NME and Kerrang! as well as hysteria at his live shows; he was hospitalized after a fan head-butted him as he crowd-surfed at his London debut at the Highbury Garage. The full-length I Get Wet arrived in late 2001 in the U.K. and in spring 2002 in the U.S., where his "It's Time to Party" was used in a TV commercial for the travel website expedia.com. Andrew W.K. also gigged extensively that spring, both on his own and as part of an MTV 2 package tour. Andrew is an incredibly intelligent and thoughtful person, and his recent lecture series "The Joy Trilogy" enjoyed sold-out perfrmances in NYC

Jason Alexander Jason Alexander's nine seasons as hapless schlep George Costanza on Seinfeld have been the crowning glory to a 25-year career on stage, screen and television. But with looks that can be pitiful, sympathetic, charming, devious, and even unscrupulous--combined with an equally malleable talent--this multi award-winning actor is in little danger of being stereotyped. For his portrayal of George, Alexander has earned six Emmy and four Golden Globe nominations, an American Television Award and two American Comedy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series. The Screen Actors Guild went one better and chose him as Best Actor in a Comedy Series despite his role as a supporting actor. Born and raised in New Jersey, Alexander first found an audience among his classmates, entertaining them in an effort to distract from his chubbiness. At 16, he earned his first professional job when he was spotted in a children's theater group and was asked to perform on a local New York children's program. Two years later he landed his first film, The Burning, while studying acting at Boston University. In 1995, Alexander returned to Boston University to receive an honorary doctorate in Fine Arts. In film, Alexander recently appeared in Rocky and Bullwinkle as 'Boris Badenov,' opposite Rene Russo and Robert De Niro. His other film credits include Brighton Beach Memoirs, Mosquito Coast, Jacob's Ladder, White Palace, Coneheads, Blankman, The Last Supper and the Academy Award-nominated live-action short film Down on the Waterfront. Alexander's most memorable roles include those in Rob Reiner's North, Ron Howard's The Paper, and as Richard Gere's villainous lawyer in Pretty Woman. Alexander earned an Emmy nomination for a supporting guest role on HBO's Dream On. He has also hosted Saturday Night Live, and performed song-and-dance numbers for The Comedy Hall of Fame, The Kennedy Center Honors and the 1994 Emmy Awards (for which he was nominated for an American Comedy Award) and as co-host of The 1995 Emmy Awards with Cybill Sheperd. Most recently, he performed with the Boston Pops on PBS and with the orchestra again at Carnegie Hall. On stage, his theatrical capstone came in the award-winning Jerome Robbins' Broadway, for which he won a Tony as well as Outer Critics and Drama Desk Awards for Best Actor in a Musical. Alexander also was the author of the show's narration. In Los Angeles, Alexander received critical acclaim and a Dramalogue Award for his portrayal of Harry Truman in the one-man play Give 'Em Hell Harry. Alexander's voice has also become famous for his work both in animated features and television series. For four seasons, he starred in the USA Network's critically acclaimed adult animation series Duckman. In film, his voice has been used in Aladdin, The Return of Jafar, Hercules and as 'Hugo the Gargoyle' in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. In addition to acting, Alexander has been receiving attention as a director. His first effort behind the camera, for an episode of Seinfeld, was nominated for a DGA Award in 1993. He directed the independent film Just Looking, which starred Patti Lupone, Gretchen Mol and Ryan Merriman. Alexander's feature film directing debut was the romantic comedy For Better or Worse, in which he also starred opposite Lolita Davidovich and James Woods. Jason refuses to be type cast and continues to seek different roles in which he can prove his versatile and broad talent.

David Blaine David Blaine was born in Brooklyn, New York. He started doing magic at age four. His first trick was the pencil-through-card gizmo that you can still buy. When he was 10, his mother remarried and moved to New Jersey. At 16, he levitated for his doctor, who immediately wanted to take him for tests. His mother was very supportive of him and his magic, but unfortunately died in 1994 when David was 21. David became noticed when he would walk up to people and do magic for them. This was a great ice breaker. He then started doing parties for rich people and got into the club scene. That was when he was noticed by Al Pacino. Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro noticed him, too, and befriended him. He then got an agent, made a crude home video with a friend and sent it to ABC. The network gave him an interview, during which he performed magic. They interviewers were dumbfounded and gave him a contract. David took the magic community by storm with his first ABC special "David Blaine: Street Magic." Virtually unknown before the broadcast, the name David Blaine was immediately on the lips of most magicians. He topped that by being buried alive for five days, during which he remained on public display in New York City to promote his special, "David Blaine: Magic Man." Ken Burns Ken Burns Celebrated documentary filmmaker Program Title: An Evening With Ken Burns Ken Burns has been making documentary films for more than twenty years. Since the Academy Award nominated Brooklyn Bridge in 1981, he has gone on to direct and produce some of the most acclaimed historical documentaries ever made, including The Civil War (1990) and Baseball (1994). Stephen Ambrose, the historian, has said of Ken's films, "More Americans get their history from Ken Burns than any other source." JAZZ (a GM Mark of Excellence Presentation that will air on PBS in January, 2001) is Burns's third epic documentary, a ten-part that follows this most American of art forms from its origins in blues and ragtime through swing, bebop and fusion. As with The Civil War and Baseball, which with JAZZ constitute a unique trilogy of American life and culture, Burns explores in detail the culture, politics and dreams that gave birth to this most integral part of American history and life. As he wrote in the introduction to the companion book (Knopf, 2000), "having grappled with many Constitutional issues in our Civil War series and many other films, and having explored our national pastime and its exquisite lessons in our series on Baseball, we have over the last six years struggled to understand the utterly American art form of jazz. Ken's epics have received numerous accolades. The Civil War was the highest rated series in the history of American public television and attracted an audience of 40 million during its premiere in September 1990. The columnist George Will said, "If better use has ever been made of television, I have not seen it and do not expect to see better until Ken Burns turns his prodigious talents to his next project." The series was honored with more than 40 major film and television awards. The eighteen and a half hour long Baseball, for which Ken was also the director, producer, co-writer, chief cinematographer, music director and executive producer, attracted more than 45 million viewers. David Bianculli of the New York Daily News said that the film "resonates like a Mozart symphony." Time Magazine wrote that "Baseball is rich in drama, irresistible as nostalgia, and...an instructive window into our national psychology." The film won numerous awards, including an Emmy, the CINE Golden Eagle Award, the Clarion Award, and the Television Critics Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sports and Special Programming.

He appeared regularly on NBC Nightly News and had his own segment called "Cross Country" on the Today show. For his work with NBC, Burns was named by the Washington Journalism Review as one of the best writers in the history of broadcast journalism, joining such luminaries as Edward R. Clifton Davis Popular actor, gospel singer and entertainer who is best known for his role as Reverend Rueben Gregory on the hit NBC television series, Amen. Actor, producer, singer and songwriter are just a few of the titles tied to his marques name. As a big-screen actor, Chicago’s native son, Clifton Davis has been featured in such familiar flicks as Any Given Sunday, Kingdom Come and Spike Lee’s Crooklyn. On the small-screen, who can forget his most memorable character on the highly successful sitcom Amen, playing the role of the handsome, God-fearing minister, Reuben Gregory Probably, his most surprising achievement is as composer for the multi-platinum selling single and Grammy-nominated song he penned for the Jackson Five back in the day – Never Can Say Good-Bye. But that was then. Clifton Davis would remind you that he is an ordained minister with undergraduate and graduate degrees in theology. Balancing saintly and secular duties as a witness for the Lord is no easy task. Rebuke from both Hollywood and the holy world is even at the door. With her trademark dreadlocks, gravelly voice and blunt, hip-yet-compassionate style, she was unconventional star material to be sure, and the ups and downs of her career clearly represent the attempts of producers to smooth over what they consider to be her rough edges. She made an auspicious feature debut with an atypically subdued but very moving performance in Steven Spielberg's controversial film, "The Color Purple." She gave an Oscar-winning performance as a fake psychic medium in the 1990 boxoffice hit, "Ghost." Her unusual and considerable talents, and her earthy, straightforward persona have kept her extremely busy from hosting two Academy Awards ceremonies to performing in the low-key romance, "Corinna, Corinna," voicing Shenzi the hyena in "The Lion King" and playing a lesbian in the road film, "Boys on the Side."
Cuba Gooding Academy award winning actor best known for his role in the movie, "Jerry McGuire."

Mia Hamm Mia is widely recognized as the world's best all-around women's soccer player. In Atlanta at the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games she proved it by leading her team to Team Gold in front of 80,000 screaming fans in Athens, Georgia. Never in history had so many spectators come out to watch a women's sporting event. The Games highlighted female athletes like no other time in modern history and Mia emerged as one of the Game's true examples for people of all ages who have a dream and go for it. The 1999 Women's World Cup, where the USA took home the championship in front of 40 million viewers in this country alone, sold over 650,000 tickets, including sellouts at Giants Stadium and the Rose Bowl. There is no stopping women's soccer and Mia's enormous impact, both on and off the field. Having played collegiately at UNC and leading her team to four consecutive NCAA championships, she inherited the nickname "Jordan" (after a basketball player at NC named Michael!) because of her athletic ability on the field and sportsmanship, determination and commitment off it. Her awards and accomplishments only tell part of the story of this remarkable athlete; she gives much of her precious free time to charitable causes and strives, in anything she does, to promote women's athletics, the sport of soccer, and a feeling of confidence and sense of purpose in young people (male or female). Mia was the youngest player ever to play for our National Team (age 15) and has been a member ever since (the team won the World Championships in 1991, Mia's second time on the team). Her records in appearances and goals, MVP awards and overall performance put her at the top of the sport as she looks forward to the 2004 Olympics (she has been US Soccer's Female Athlete of the year five consecutive years). As Phil Knight, Chairman of Nike says "I think we've had three athletes who just played at a level that added a new dimension to their games. That's been Michael Jordan, in basketball, and in some ways Mia Hamm in women's soccer and Tiger Woods in golf." In April of 1999, Nike named the largest building on its corporate campus after Mia. Having seen the enormous support her and her teammates received at the '96 and '00 Games, Mia became a founding member of the Women's United Soccer Association and led the Washington Freedom to the Founder's Cup. Poised, articulate and honest, Mia is a pioneer in her sport and a role model for athletes and fans alike who believe in equal opportunity, Title IX legislation, and the love of the game.

Mike Huckabee Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is the host of the number one rated weekend hit "HUCKABEE" on the Fox News Channel, and is heard three times daily across the nation on the "Huckabee Report" on the ABC Radio Network, the fast growing new program on the ABC Radio Network in years. He is the author of 6 books, the most recent being "Do the Right Thing," which spent its first 7 weeks of release in the top ten of the New York Times Bestseller list. After his quest for the Republican nomination for President in 2008, in which he finished second to John McCain, he formed HuckPac to assist Republicans running for office nationwide and has amassed a volunteer army of thousands of activists in all 50 states. From 1996-2007, Huckabee served as the 44th Governor of Arkansas and was recognized as a national leader, having been honored by several renowned publications and organizations for his numerous accomplishments. Governing Magazine named him as one of its 'Public Officials of the Year' for 2005, Time Magazine honored him as one of the five best governors in America, and later in the same year, Huckabee received the American Association of Retired Person's Impact Award. In 2007, he was presented with the Music for Life Award by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) for his commitment to music education. He served as the Chairman of the prestigious National Governors Association as well as the Education Commission of the States and the Interstate Oil and Gas Commission. Huckabee became governor in July 1996 when his predecessor resigned. He was one of the youngest governors in the country at the time. Huckabee was elected to a full four-year term as governor in 1998, attracting the largest percentage of the vote ever received by a Republican gubernatorial nominee in Arkansas, and was re-elected to another four-year term in November 2002. Huckabee first was elected lieutenant governor in a 1993 special election and was elected to a full four-year term in 1994. He was only the fourth Republican to be elected to statewide office since Reconstruction. A significant part of his early adult life was spent as a pastor and denominational leader. He became the youngest president ever of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, the largest denomination in Arkansas. Huckabee led rapidly growing congregations in Pine Bluff and Texarkana. He said those experiences gave him a deep sense of the problems faced by individuals and families. Huckabee's efforts to improve his own health have received national attention. Diagnosed with Type II diabetes in 2003, he lost 110 pounds. Barely two years later, he had completed four marathons: The 2005 and 2006 Little Rock Marathons, the Marine Corps Marathon and the ING New York City Marathon. As a result of his accomplishments, The Road Runners Club of America named him its 'Southern Region Runner of the Year' and USA Track & Field has named him their 'Athlete of the Week' for the country. Continuing to call for a national emphasis on living a healthy lifestyle, Huckabee completed his fourth book, "Quit Digging Your Grave With A Knife and Fork." This 12-stop program is a no-nonsense approach to managing one's health through lifestyle change rather than a simple diet and exercise plan. Huckabee, 53, is an avid musician and is bass player in his rock-n-roll band, Capitol Offense, which has opened for artists such as Willie Nelson and the Charlie Daniels Band, and has played the House of Blues in New Orleans, the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, CO and for two presidential inauguration balls. Ernie Hudson There are very few actors who can lay claim to a professional resume as long and varied as Ernie Hudson, but Hudson has always been a unique screen presence, capable of taking on any role. He was slimed when he co-starred as one of the Ghostbusters in two films; he played the simple-minded handyman Solomon in the box-office smash The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, for seven seasons he played Warden Glynn in the critically acclaimed HBO series “Oz,” he was the no nonsense training officer in ABC's "10-8", he recently completed work on Randy Miller's new feature Miss Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing and Charm School, where he played Blake the shy, introverted widower, and is currently reprising his role as Harry McDonald, Sandra Bullock's FBI boss in Miss Congeniality 2. Born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, a career in show business seemed like an unlikely path for young Ernie Hudson, who was already married with a young son when he enrolled at Wayne State University as a Speech and English major. Hudson’s early ambition was to be a writer, and was for a time the resident playwright at Detroit’s Concept East, the oldest black theater company in the country at that time. Later, he founded the Actors Ensemble Theater, which allowed him and other black performers to stage and appear in their own works. After attending Wayne State, Hudson accepted a full scholarship to the Master of Fine Arts Program at Yale University. This led to a number of regional theater roles and critical acclaim, and his feature film debut in Leadbelly. Hudson soon found himself alternating between film and television roles until 1983, when he was cast as Winston Zeddemore, the fourth member of the Ghostbusters team. The two Ghostbusters films, starring Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd, were huge box-office hits and gave Hudson a higher profile than he had ever known. He continued to work at a steady pace developing a broad and varied fan base. “Black, white, young, old, people recognize me from a wide variety of movies. I haven’t worked in just one genre, and my roles have varied as well.” Hudson’s subsequent screen roles included parts in Weeds with Nick Nolte, Leviathan, Sugar Hill, The Cowboy Way, Speechless, No Escape, The Substitute, Basketball Diaries and The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. "Oz" series co-creator Tom Fontana had worked with Hudson when he guest-starred on eight episodes of “St. Elsewhere” years ago, and cast him as Warden Leo Glynn, the fair-minded warden of the high-tech experimental unit of a maximum-security prison. “Oz” was one of HBO’s signature programs and ran for seven seasons. “It’s a hard show to watch because of the brutal nature of prison life, but I do think it made a very strong statement and the writing was very powerful.” Hudson won the International Press Academy Golden Satellite Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series for his work on “Oz.”
Dog The Bounty Hunter Considered the greatest bounty hunter in the world, Duane "Dog" Chapman has made more than 6,000 captures in his 27-year career. This highly intense, charismatic ex-con and born-again Christian is the king of the comebacks. This modern-day hero once served time in a Texas prison. "I am what rehabilitation stands for," Dog says. Now on the right side of the law, Dog is tireless in his efforts to bring in the bad guys and encourage them to turn their lives around. Over the years, the list of fugitives Dog claims to have either helped catch or single-handedly brought to justice reads like a who's who of America's most wanted, including high-profile rapist and Max Factor heir, Andrew Luster. Dog credits much of his success to his knack for getting the most out of his informants. "Seventy percent of all my captures happen because some good ol' American has turned them in by giving me information," he says. Raised in Denver, Dog is the oldest of four children born to Wesley and Barbara Chapman. His dad was a welder in the U.S. Navy, while his mother was a minister with the First Assembly of God who often traveled to Native American reservations to teach the gospel. Dog currently resides in Hawaii with his wife and business partner, Beth, and three of his children

He has a long history for rallying the troops stemming from his days at the University of Toledo when he became the first person of color to be the President of Student Government. Upon graduation he headed to Washington, DC and was the National Director for the NAACPs Youth and College Division, and then was later tapped by Russell Simmons to be the Vice President for the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network. Jeff’s work in the political arena began to gain momentum, which caught the eye of an executive at BET who felt his breadth of knowledge in cultural affairs and politics would work best for their show Rap City. Jeff played host Tiggers conscious Cousin Jeff, and for the past two-years gave audiences a dose of reality. And his popularity has proved that his words do not fall on deaf ears. Wanting to get mileage out of the progress that was created on Rap City, BET introduced The Cousin Jeff Chronicles, a series of true-life documentaries that deal with current and pertinent issues facing urban communities. It became clear to me when I began this work that I needed to provide a voice of truth and honesty - transparency within the political process, especially for young people who may have a hard time deciphering that process and knowing their options, states Jeff. Jeffs commitment to fostering communication between the civil rights and hip-hop generations has been successful as he tours the country speaking at universities, faith-based organizations and churches while conducting countless leadership training sessions in local communities. As a voice for social change, Jeff is passionate about this work. He has put a spotlight on grassroots activism making these issues relevant to a wide variety of audiences throughout the country. The time is now states Jeff. Once individuals are armed with the political information needed to foster change within their communities, it will allow them to foster change within themselves.

John Kasich John Kasich is a former U.S. Republican Representative turned television show host for FOX News Channel. He hosts Heartland with John Kasich, and also guest hosts The O'Reilly Factor, filling in for Bill O'Reilly when necessary. In 1993, he became the Ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee where he authored an alternative to President Clinton's deficit reduction plan that relied on spending reductions rather than tax increases. Later that year, the Penny-Kasich Plan failed by only six votes to cut federal spending by an additional $90 billion on top of the deficit reduction forecasted by President Clinton. After the 1994 Republicans became the majority party in Congress, Kasich became Chairman of the House Budget Committee working towards the balanced budget, and served as chair of the congressional committee on welfare reform. During the 1996 presidential campaign, Republican nominee Bob Dole seriously considered Kasich as a vice presidential running mate, but instead selected Jack Kemp, a former congressman and HUD Secretary. It is possible Kasich was dropped in response to rumors instigated by Kasich's Democratic opponent in his House race, Cynthia Ruccia, regarding Kasich's sexuality. Ruccia raised the question of the propriety of bachelor Kasich sharing a Washington townhouse with his male chief-of-staff. Kasich nonetheless won the 1996 election, and subsequently married in March of 1997. Kasich's book, Courage is Contagious, was a New York Times bestseller. Kasich is of Croatian descent. Kasich's new book Stand for Something: The Battle for America's Soul was released on May 10, 2006.

In his talk, Kwon delved into stories from his childhood growing up in a South Korean immigrant family, when he would watch television while distractedly aware of the absence of Asian American role models. Ananda Lewis Award-Winning Host of “The Ananda Lewis Show” A combination of deep compassion, true intelligence, striking beauty and a big mouth has helped award winning television host Ananda Lewis reach new heights. Her talents have garnered a wealth of achievements, yet she has only just begun! Ananda, Sanskrit for "bliss", has been touching lives on and off screen since the age of 13. The San Diego, California native was a Head Start volunteer while a student at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. For nine years (4th through 12th grades) Ananda studied theater, vocal music, photography, and dance at the prestigious school that she credits with giving her the ability to maintain a free spirit and cultivate her confidence. "The teachers I had at SDSCPA and the supportive, nurturing environment of the campus in general are probably the #1 reason I am seeing success now," she says. After graduating from high school, Ananda left San Diego to attend Howard University in Washington, D.C. For three seasons Ananda served as Host of BET’s Teen Summit, one of the station’s top rated shows which reached 42 million household’s LIVE each week. Her gift for affecting the lives of young people beamed out at us through the screen and her natural and obviously genuine relationship with co-host DaJour, had a lot of us thinking they were siblings. "Everybody would ask if Dajour, was my brother. I guess in a way he was - through talking about our lives, families and how to improve ourselves and our show." The teamwork obviously served them well. Teen Summit’s "It Takes a Village" show earned them a 1997 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Youth Series in large part because of Ananda’s interview with Hillary Rodham-Clinton. Teen Summit was also nominated for 1996 Cable Ace Award for its special on "homeless teens". During the summer of 1997, Ananda faced another life-changing decision when an opportunity at another television network arose. MTV had come knocking and Ananda was not sure about opening the door. "Up until that time I had been doing a show that meant great deal to not only me, but our viewers and the continued progress and healing of everyone it touched. I knew that I would not readily have access to doing a show like this again for a very long time and I had a real problem with that. For years it had been clear to me that I came to this planet to impact people’s lives, change things and help people heal by increasing their personal power and rejecting the lies we’ve all been taught since birth about ourselves and our potential. Yet I understood that in order to do that effectively, I would need the attention of the masses, not just my own people. I saw MTV not only as access to the masses, but also as an opportunity to be more of the woman I am and cultivate my ability to have fun, my social skills and whatever else the Creator had in store for me with this new opportunity."

Judge Greg Mathis Popular television judge who is featured on the nationally syndicated TV show "Judge Mathis". The youngest judge in Michigan history, Greg Mathis was a Michigan Superior Court Judge before the start of his television series. Mathis worked hard to win the judgeship in the city of Detroit. He had many obstacles to overcome. He had failed the Michigan bar exam once, and had been denied a license to practice law for several years after graduating from law school because of his criminal past. He had not accrued an extensive portfolio of legal work, and he was seen by the establishment as someone who lacked the necessary experience and insight to handle the hectic and heavy docket. Yet in 1995, he was elected a superior court judge for Michigan's 36th District, making him the youngest man in the state to hold the post. During the five years he was on the bench, he was rated in the top five of all judges in the 36th District; there are about thirty judges each year. He was trying to have a movie made about his youth when a partner was contacted by Blackpearl Productions about starting a television show. He has been hosting a television series, Judge Mathis, since 1999, in which he mediates disputes much like a real courtroom. In 2001, Mathis appeared in "1st Annual BET Awards" as himself. He also was a guest star as himself in the Steve Harvey show episode "Here Comes the Judge". Mathis has been parodied on Saturday Night Live by Tracy Morgan in the "Judge Horace" persona. At a rally commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, Mathis said, "They (the Bush administration) all need to be locked up because they are all criminals and they are all thieves. It is indeed criminal to steal an election and within two years run up a federal deficit of half-a-trillion dollars, send our young people over to Iraq to die for an unjust war. What they are doing is criminal."

Marie Osmond As a child and a teenager, Marie Osmond endeared herself to an entire generation. That bond with her audience not only continued, but grew stronger through the years as Marie’s career blossomed into hit records, network television shows, Broadway musicals, movies of the week, world-wide concert tours, a top ten New York Times best selling book author, television commercials, lecture tours and an extremely successful Marie Osmond Collector Dolls business. With all her successes over 40 years in the entertainment industry, Marie’s legion of fans now spans generations. Marie was first thrust into the spotlight in 1963 on “The Andy Williams Show” when the host placed the three-year old on his lap and introduced her as “the youngest Osmond Brother.” She began to make a name for herself 10 years later when at 13 years of age she exploded onto the music charts (#1 country/#5 pop) with “Paper Roses,” marking the first time in country music history that a female artist debuted with a #1 record. Her first concert performance soon after was a sold-out date at Madison Square Garden alongside The Osmond Brothers, with whom she now performed, prompting the group’s name to be changed to The Osmonds. Barely a teenager, she garnered a gold record and Grammy nominations for 1974’s Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Best New Artist. After the Paper Roses album, she released In My Little Corner of the World (1974) and Who’s Sorry Now (1975). Among the many TV guest appearances she made, one featured a duet with her brother Donny of their #4 top selling pop record “I’m Leavin’ It All Up to You” and a guest hosting role with Donny. That, in turn, led to their weekly television variety series “The Donny & Marie Show” (1976-81). During the show’s run, because of her famous “Marie Cut” hairstyle and her stylish wardrobe and keen eye for fashion, she became recognized as a trend setter and a role model for women throughout the world. Ever in demand, in 1995 ABC Television asked Marie to star in the sitcom “Maybe This Time” with Betty White. In 1997, she made her Broadway debut as Anna in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “The King and I,” opening to rave reviews, and in the spring of 1998, she headlined the show’s national touring production in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Then, in the fall of 1998, Columbia Tristar Television Distribution premiered the popular daytime entertainment/talk show “Donny & Marie,” which ran for two full seasons. True international icons, NBC Television invited Marie and her brother Donny to perform for the closing ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics, viewed by a world-wide audience. And again, in 2003, Marie and Donny were teamed with the popular Ozzie Osbourne and his family for the hilarious Pepsi Twist television commercial seen world-wide and voted the most recognized commercial spot of Super Bowl XXXVII. In August, 2003, Marie and her family received a star on Hollywood’s prestigious Walk of Fame. After 40 years of television, 47 gold and platinum records and selling over 100 million records world wide, the Osmonds are acclaimed as on of the most prolific entertainment families in the world. Marie’s highly successful career had involved her in every medium of entertainment except radio, until in 2004 she launched into a whole new experiment and vista of entertainment with her fun and informative nationally syndicated talk/music radio show “Marie & Friends.” After her final broadcast, Marie jokingly said it was fun for her because with eight children she really enjoyed the adult conversation with her radio “friends” every weekday! In August, 2006, Marie joined the Fox Television Network family as a judge on American Idol executive producer Simon Cowell’s newest singing competition “Celebrity Duets”. She had a great time working with host Wayne Brady and fellow judges rock ‘n roll icon Little Richard and famed producer/songwriter David Foster, “because all the people involved are so talented, quick and bright ---- and besides, I kind of miss giving my male counterpart(s) a bad time!”

Kal Penn Kal Penn is one of America's hottest and most respected young actors. The star of Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle and The Namesake, Penn , according to The Boston Globe, "could turn out to be the Desi Tom Hanks. Scratch that—he could be the next Tom Hanks, period." Starring in worldwide blockbusters, like Superman Returns, as well as critically adored indie films, like American Desi, Kal Penn’s popularity has put him into the top ranks of Hollywood’s young stars. But before his breakthrough in Harold and Kumar, he suffered, like many minority actors, his share of typecasting and prejudice. Now, as one of the few leading men of Indian descent in Hollywood, he is setting the stage for a sea change in attitude toward the portrayal of minorities on television and in the movies. With each role, he is working to get a fuller and truer range of racial and cultural experience into popular culture. As the star of one of this year’s most critically acclaimed films The Namesake, Penn plays Gogol, an Indian child growing up in America with a name that is from neither country. The movie embraces the reality of the immigrant experience, and is the sort of intelligent and popular entertainment for which he has come increasingly to be known. The New York Times called his turn in the movie, "a crackling star making performance." Penn was featured, with his friend Brandon “Superman” Routh, in the infamously rejected MTV pilot, Awesometown, and has guest-starred on episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, ER and NYPD Blue. He is also set to star the much-hyped sequel Harold and Kumar Go to Amsterdam. Recently named one of People magazine’s “50 Hottest Bachelors," he is currently attending Stanford University, studying International Relations. A graduate of UCLA in film and sociology, Penn will teach two undergraduate courses at the University of Pennsylvania in 2008.

He did well, the bug bit hard and Romano was smitten. After stints at odd jobs, including futon mattress delivery boy and bank teller by day and journeyman comedian by night, he decided to leave the 9-to-5 ranks and pursue comedy full-time, eventually winning a stand-up comedy competition sponsored by a major New York radio station that same year. Following that success, Romano continued to regularly appear at comedy clubs throughout the country, leading to appearances on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" and then with Jay Leno. He was eventually invited to appear on "Late Night with David Letterman." Dan Senor Dan Senor just returned from the Middle East, where he spent substantial time in Iraq, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Jordan. Until the hand-over of power in Iraq, Dan Senor was the Chief Spokesperson for the U.S.-led Coalition in Iraq, and a Senior Advisor to Presidential Envoy L. Paul Bremer III, the Administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority. Senor rode into Baghdad on the first convoy of civilians into Iraq from Kuwait, less than two weeks after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime, and was one of the longest-serving American civilians in Iraq, extending his tour to 15 months, after originally committing to just a 90-day assignment with the Bush Administration. Working closely with the military under often less-than-ideal conditions, Senor advised the Bush Administration, the Blair Government in the U.K. and Ambassador Bremer on a variety of Iraqi strategic, policy and communication issues, and was the civilian face of the Coalition Authority to Americans, Europeans, Iraqis and the world. No one is better positioned to address the turbulent and revolutionary moment in the Middle East and the Bush Administration's strategy for dealing with the region. Senor has worked closely with the Bush Administration's national security team, including Secretaries Rice and Rumsfeld and Generals Abizaid and Sanchez, as well as senior officials throughout the Administration's foreign policy apparatus. He most recently served as an International Election Monitor based in Kiev and Kirovograd during the Ukrainian election. He appears regularly on television to provide analysis for national security and foreign affairs issues, and was recently published in the Wall Street Journal. An accomplished speaker, he gave more than a hundred press briefings while serving in Iraq, Senor comes to the podium to discuss the current, ever-changing global political situation. Because of Senor's international policy expertise, specifically on Iraq and Iran, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, America's renewed engagement with Europe and the tension between Russia and the new Ukraine, he is uniquely positioned to speak to America's strategy and role in the world for the next four years and how the international community will react. Senor grew up in the United States and Canada and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. After graduating from Harvard Business School, Senor worked for the Carlyle Group, a Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm. Prior to going to Harvard Business School for his MBA, Senor worked as an aide to then-Republican senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan during Abraham's term in the U.S. Senate. During his time with Senator Abraham, who is currently the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Senor served as a foreign policy legislative aide, press secretary and communications director.

Jerry Springer Jerry Springer Throughout a long and varied career, cultural icon Jerry can claim many labels other than “host”: two-term mayor of Cincinnati, political pundit, lawyer, award-winning newscaster, country recording artist, TV personality, movie star, and Broadway actor, among them. The multi-faceted Springer, with a passion for politics, was named Democrat of the Year from Ohio and served as a Delegate-at-Large at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. A regular guest on the talk circuit, Springer has appeared many shows, including The Tonight Show, Late Night with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, The View, and Crossfire. Today, because of the continued popularity of his show, Springer is a sought after guest speaker on college campuses in the US and abroad. Ringmaster, a book written by Springer, hit store shelves in November 1998 and shared Springer’s personal look into his show, as well as remembrances from his childhood and professional career. In 1999, Springer played himself in the hit movie Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me. He became a featured character in The Simpsons 1998 Halloween Special and played himself on The X-Files. Having graced the covers of Rolling Stone, Esquire, and New York Magazine, Springer was asked by Barbara Walters to be part of her year-end 10 Most Fascinating People of 1998 special for ABC. In 1977, Springer was elected mayor of Cincinnati by the largest plurality in the city’s history. At age 33, he was one of the country’s youngest mayors. Five years later, Springer launched his broadcasting career as a political reporter and commentator on Cincinnati’s WLWT-TV. He became anchor and managing editor in 1984, and was Cincinnati’s top-rated news anchor until he relinquished the post in January 1993. During his tenure, Springer received seven Emmy Awards for his nightly commentaries, the forerunner to his “Final Thought,” and was voted television’s best anchor for five consecutive years by readers of Cincinnati Magazine. Springer is perhaps most proud of his involvement with Cincinnati Reaches Out, contributing on-site reporting from Ethiopia and Sudan, where he documented the effort to provide assistance to famine-stricken Africans. The company that owned WLWT-TV also owned The Phil Donahue Show. Ben Stein Ben Stein is probably the closest any man comes these days to being a true renaissance man. His financial and economics work was cited in the efforts of the recent Nobel prize winner in Economics, George Akerlof. He is also the host of the long running comedy quiz show on Comedy Central, Win Ben Stein's Money, a show that has won seven Emmies. He has written hundreds of thousands of words about financial fraud and investment policy, but two words made him a household name: "Bueller" and "Anyone, Anyone." ( From his iconic role in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off.") He has written novels that the New York Times describes as "stunning," but what you have probably heard him talk about recently are "dry eyes, red eyes, and clear eyes." He worked and demonstrated and struggled for voting rights for African Americans, and he also was a speech writer for Richard Nixon and for Gerald Ford. He introduced the world to complex concepts of the politics of culture, but he also introduced the world to Jimmy Kimmel and made possible The Man Show. Lawyer, teacher, actor, comic, economist, father, novelist, essayist, expert on finance, meet Ben Stein!
Jon Stewart Jon Stewart is considered one of America's top social and comedic voices. From his anchor chair of Comedy Centrals The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, he "has breathed new life into a show that hadn't even seemed to need it," said The New York Times. Since taking over as the anchorman of The Daily Show, his presence has seen higher ratings and awareness for himself and Comedy Central. During the 2000 election year, Stewart and The Daily Show lead the way to the White House as the torch bearers of Comedy Central's Indecision 2000 election coverage that covered the elections, debates and candidates from the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire primary straight through to the National Conventions and culminated on election night with a one-hour special. Prior to taking over The Daily Show, Stewart's television work was on HBO's critically acclaimed series-within-a-series, The Larry Sanders Show, playing a character he should know very well: himself. The final season saw, among other things, Stewart seemingly being groomed to take over the fictitious late-night throne from the perpetually paranoid Larry Sanders. Stewart also served as a creative consultant on the series. On the feature film front, Stewart starred with Adam Sandler in the hit film Big Daddy. He also starred in the romantic drama Playing by Heart, which marked a departure for him in that he was allowed to show more of a dramatic side of himself than people are accustomed to seeing. Stewart also starred in The Faculty, a horror-comedy directed by Robert Rodriguez. While it may be the conventional route for stand-up comedians to sign a book deal and expound on their early days inside dingy comedy clubs, Stewart took the path less traveled with his debut book, Naked Pictures of Famous People. A collection of fictitious and humorous what-if essays, Naked Pictures has appeared on many bestseller lists including The New York Times. He also wrote The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents America: A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction. His popularity continued to grow as he became increasingly comfortable in his role on The Daily Show, where Stewart would take home Emmy Awards for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series in both 2003 and 2004, and Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program in 2004. maintained his dominance at the 2005 Emmy Awards, winning statues for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for the same category.
